Wendover's $152.6 million a year gaming industry is among the healthiest in Nevada and the country. It borders Wendover, Utah on the State line adding to the overall population. 5 major Casino/Hotel Resorts combined for five consecutive record breaking profit years employ over 3700 workers. All 5 Casinos have expanded their operations in the past few years creating more housing shortages for both sides of Wendover. 5.3 employees per room are needed to maintain and operate the Casino Tourist Market in Wendover. Official 2000 Population Census shows we have doubled our combined population since last Census. 6800, closer to 7200, during the week and over 35,000 on avg weekend ...and more on Special Events Weekends such as when the World Speed Trials are held on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Peppermill Casinos have plans in the works to build a $150+ Million Casino. The new Concert Pavillion is finished and we love the Big Name Entertainment coming here.

Housing markets inside and outside Wendover have shown extremely profitable in efforts to keep up with the expanding City of Wendover; both rentals and ownership projects are favored. With an expanding employee base returning to normal after 911, businesses and services to accommodate the expansions in population and needs of the community are vital. Housing and affordable housing is being addressed as well as incentives for relocations of businesses to West Wendover.

Wendover is on major Interstate 80 with 3 convenient off ramps to the clubs. All Casinos can be seen from I-80. HWY US 93 intersects at Wendover for travel to Ely, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Wendover is also crossed by the transcontinental railroad system, coupled with the Wendover Airport's fifth longest runway in the Western United States, this city offers everything modern industry needs in rail, road and air transport. Wendover and surrounding areas has some of the lowest electric rates in the region. Industry, Light Manufacturing and HiTech companies as well as other businesses are being welcomed into the area.

The City of West Wendover is business friendly and has recently improved and streamlined its processes to enable industry, construction entities, and developers to help in the providing of housing, business sites, and amenities. The city of West Wendover is growth oriented providing help to the public in an organized manner.

The Casinos have instituted huge Advertising campaigns in their competition for the strong Gaming dollar in Wendover and from the Wasatch Front including flights called the Millionaire Express from 47+ cities around the continental U.S. In doing this, they have brought other interests to Wendover that recognize the urgency of housing and services. Laughlin and Mesquite are comparable gaming communities with West Wendover holding more of the gaming dollar than Mesquite in later years. Our Casinos offer higher Tournament Prizes and promotion packages than any other Northeastern Nevada Casinos.

West Wendover's Toana Vista Golf Course is 18 Holes with total yardage of 6820. Slope 72.6 and a 124 Rating.

Recently a McDonald's has been completed along with Arby's, Pilot Corporation Super Truck and Travel stop, Family Dollar Store Chain, Greater NV Credit Union recently finished a bank, and a Smith's grocery is in place plus manufacturing and businesses are currently vying for properties. We have a new Olympic size swimming Pool and a new Senior Citizens Center and Youth Center. We have Pizza Hut, Burger King, plus the many choices of Casino delights. Shopping has improved. New businesses are coming here.

The World Speed Records are set here on the Great Bonneville Salt Flats every year. Folks come from all over the world for this even. On this weekend it is good to have reservations well in advance.

The 2002 Olympics were held in Salt Lake City - (1 hour 45 min, 120 miles) from Wendover.

Wendover has a strong high paying minerals industry with a major lime mine to the west and an industrial salts extraction plant to the east of town.

Crime is relatively low in Wendover due to our excellent law enforcement activities and equipment. Highway Patrol from both Utah and Nevada reside here plus City Police for both States also. Along with the security at the Casinos it is a great place to live.

The two weekly newspapers are The High Desert Advocate and The Wendover Times. Two Phone companies provide local service and local dial up Internet as well as satelite internet. Cell phone choices also. We have public softball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, a small city park next door to our Nevada State Welcome Center and a monument to the historical WWII Enola Gay. We have a rodeo arena and a fully equipped Medical Clinic. Currently there are plans to provide a hospital for Wendover. We have Life-Flight and Ambulance service - the best. Wendover has an excellent Firehouse staffed and equipped. Wendover recently completed the new compost facility using city waste to "green" up the community. We have a Nevada side Post Office and a Utah Post Office.

Wendover, NV has an expanding state of the art High school with completely computerized environment and consistently acquires the funds to create better opportunities for our students. Lower grade schools follow suit. The education programs are fully funded - Nevada has a higher scholastic achievement rating in the nation than surrounding states according to national statistics. Negotiations for higher learning institutions are being considered for Wendover at this time. We have 1 extension service at present. For the first time, land is available adjacent to the city and in the city for development - commercial, residential alike.

Employees in Wendover Casinos are less transient than other gaming communities and we are seeing 3rd and 4th generations staying in Wendover. The Hispanic population is large, but is now composed of legal resident immigrants. The rental market remains excellent with more rentals needed for those that cannot buy. Most rental complexes maintain a waiting list.

Quality of life issues are considered in development. Our Air Quality is excellent as well as our Water. We have plenty of water for future generations of development whether it is residential or industrial. The City of West Wendover is striving for a beautiful as well as an economically sound Community in all its planning stages. They are also taking into consideration the retiring population and their needs. Our City is incorporated. The weather is retirement weather compared to higher elevation surrounding areas, and cooler than Mesquite and Laughlin. Our evenings are cooler and our sunsets and views incredible. Elevation is 4,500.

Investors/developers are realizing that Wendover is a stable area for investments. Banks are available for commercial, industrial, residential developers as well as to the individual buyer. Land values are stable and now rising. Nevada is one of the fastest growing states in the nation. We are multi-cultural drawing the best of ideas from all sources.

Tax advantages are no Corporate Income Tax, No Personal Income Tax, No Unitary Tax, No Inventory Tax, Right-to-Work State, Low Property Tax, Industrial Revenue Bonds, Sales Tax Deferral, Community Development Block Grants, Business Assessment Tax Abatement, and Sales for resale are Exempt for new business without interest for up to 5 years. The International Trade Program offers assistance to businesses to begin or expand exporting to international markets with additional incentives. City of West Wendover has expanded the horizons for this area and for whoever may be lucky enough to recognize the potential in this area.
